Skill Development • Women Empowerment • Employment • Awareness

Projects Operated Under Asmita Welfare Society

At present, three major projects are being implemented under the Asmita Welfare Society. These projects aim to empower labour families through skill development, self-employment, recognition of existing skills, and awareness of government schemes and benefits.

1. EDP – Entrepreneurship Development Programme Women Empowerment & Self-Reliance

Through the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), women from labour families are provided with various skill-based training programmes. The objective is to enable them to utilise their skills, become financially independent, and start small businesses or self-employment activities.

Key Training Activities

  • Stitching & Tailoring
  • Beauty Parlour Training
  • Pickle Making
  • Jam Making
  • Other Home-Based Small Businesses and Skill-Based Activities

Objective:

To equip women with practical skills and enable them to become self-reliant and capable of pursuing employment or self-employment opportunities.

Financial Support:

After completion of training, women are also assisted in accessing loans and other financial support to help them start their own businesses or income-generating activities.

2. RPL – Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Existing Knowledge & Skills

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an important initiative under Skill India and skill development programmes. It provides formal recognition to the existing skills and experience acquired by labourers, artisans, and workers through years of practical work.

  • Key Activities
  • Identification and recognition of existing skills of labourers and artisans
  • Skill assessment based on their existing occupation and work experience
  • Evaluation of competencies through a structured assessment process
  • Government-recognised certification for successful candidates
  • Support for further skill enhancement and improved employment opportunities

3. IEC – Information, Education & Communication Awareness & Outreach

Various welfare schemes and initiatives implemented by the Labour Department may not reach all eligible beneficiaries due to a lack of awareness and information. Through the IEC Project, labourers and their families are made aware of various government schemes, their rights, eligibility criteria, and available benefits so that they can access these schemes in a timely manner.

Modes of Awareness & Outreach:

  • Awareness Camps
  • Street Plays (Nukkad Natak)
  • Pamphlets & IEC Materials
  • Publicity and Outreach Campaigns
  • Community-Level Awareness Activities
  • Direct Interaction & Counselling

Objective of IEC:

To provide labourers and their families with clear and accessible information about various schemes of the Labour Department, including their eligibility criteria and benefits, enabling eligible beneficiaries to avail themselves of these schemes at the right time.
